Built for numerous smart glasses, including Even Realities and Vuzix, anyone can access Mentra’s Captions through MentraOS. Just download the Mentra app, pair it with your smart glasses, and tap the Captions app to see it on your phone and glasses.
Also known as “real-time subtitling”, all of our new features are taken from our community of users, particularly the deaf and hard of hearing (HOH). (If you haven’t, you should join our Mentra Discord to participate!) During testing of Captions 2.0, our deaf/HOH members have given the product rave reviews.
Speaker Differentiation (Diarization)
A big problem in the past for “captions”-related products for smart glasses is you weren’t able to tell who was saying what. Mentra Captions is able to differentiate up to 15 different people speaking! The best part is our Captions work well even in noisy environments and even when you’re not directly looking at someone.
Copy and Paste Text
You can now copy any captioned text! One suggestion we got from users was having the ability to copy and paste text from Captions. For instance, if someone was saying their phone number, users wanted to be able to copy that specific text and paste it anywhere. It also comes in handy when wanting to further research, quote, or save pieces of text.
Multiple Languages at Once
Mentra Captions can simultaneously pick up over 50 languages! You don’t need to toggle between different languages in a drop-down menu, as our app automatically discerns the language and captions it. Our users have said that it’s great for when people are speaking multiple languages in a room.
Mentra Captions 1.0 first launched in January 2025 and quickly became the most popular smart glasses app for the deaf and HOH, but has also helped people with understanding different accents and processing information. It also changed how the HOH community went from having to hold up their phone everywhere to being hands-free in various real-life situations.
