MentraOS 1.0 Launch Hackathon - Smart Glasses Hackathon - March 2025

From March 1st to 2nd, 2025, we held our first smart glasses hackathon at Mentra headquarters. 20 handpicked cracked hackers came out to Mentra HQ in Dogpatch San Francisco to build the future of personal interfaces. We used this as an opportunity to get direct feedback from devs as they build apps on our open-source platform.

Winners

First Place: Augmented Chords - sheet music and chords on smart glasses to keep musicians hands-free. We had many jam sessions over the course of the hackathon.

Second Place: FilippeOS - see your smart glasses camera viewfinder on your smart glasses. Use hand gestures to zoom and rotate the image into frame. The experience was super fun and we took a group picture.

Third Place: Ulrich’s Proactive Debater - smart glasses AI that hears when someone says something you disagree and automatically starts to fill your display with counterpoints and arguments. The speed of <500ms was unreal.

Runner up: the “LOCK IN” app by Sean C.
